      Technical Product Owner

      Paris, France (hybrid)

      pointing-at-computer

COMBINE YOUR HOSPITALITY INSIGHT AND PRODUCT MINDSET TO SHAPE THE FUTURE OF HOTEL SELF-SERVICE.

Are you passionate about turning customer needs, product ideas, and integration requirements into rigorous specifications that drive our AI-assisted, specification-led product development? In this role, you're not managing roadmaps - you're ensuring every feature ships exactly as intended, with zero ambiguity between business need and technical reality.

You’ll be based at our Paris headquarters, working alongside developers, designers, and leadership to evolve our global self-service platform. With more than 3,000 installations in 29 countries, Ariane is the world leader in hotel check-in automation – and we’re just getting started.

      ABOUT THE ROLE

Ariane’s move to AI-assisted, specification-driven development has shifted the constraint on our product organisation. The bottleneck is no longer development capacity — it is the supply of high-quality, build-ready product specifications. AI-assisted delivery only produces good software from unambiguous, complete, technically sound input. This role exists to produce that input.
The Technical Product Owner turns customer needs, product ideas and integration requirements into rigorous specifications that move cleanly into build and pass pre-architecture design review without gaps that surface later as rework. The role is deliberately closer to a senior business analyst than to a traditional product manager: the emphasis is analysis, technical translation and specification quality, not roadmap ownership or market strategy, which remain with the CPO.
Two things matter for this role, in this order. First — and non-negotiable — hands-on hospitality-technology experience: we have learned that the business of hotels is hard to teach and far easier to pair with technical skill than the reverse. Second, the technical depth to specify APIs, PMS integrations and data flows precisely. We weight the first above the second — technical gaps we can help close, hotel-business understanding we cannot easily teach.

      What Makes This Role Different

Compared with a standard Product Owner, this role trades breadth of ownership for depth of specification. Expect to spend the majority of your time in requirements analysis, technical specification and validation rather than in roadmap definition, market research or launch management. If you enjoy getting an integration exactly right on paper before a line of code is written, this role is built for you.

      JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

      Requirements Analysis & Specification (core)

      • Elicit and analyse requirements from customers, internal stakeholders and the CPO, resolving ambiguity before it reaches the build.
      • Write detailed, unambiguous functional and technical specifications, user stories and acceptance criteria.
      • Map current and target process and data flows; document edge cases, error states and non-functional requirements.

      Build-Readiness for AI-Assisted Delivery

      • Produce specifications complete and precise enough to move into build and pass pre-architecture design review without gaps.
      • Partner with senior developers to pressure-test specs for buildability before architecture is locked.
      • Own specification quality as a measurable outcome — fewer clarifications mid-build, fewer surprises once architecture is set.

      Feature & Integration Logic

      • Understand new features end-to-end: the business logic behind them, the methods they rely on in the PMS integration, and the matching logic required on Ariane’s side — and specify all three at a level developers can implement directly.
      • Command the underlying PMS model well enough to specify against it: room hierarchy, what it means to modify a reservation, posting of charges, availability filtering and similar concepts.
      • For example, a room-upgrade feature depends on the right methods in the PMS integration, matching logic on our side, and a clear understanding of how the PMS treats room hierarchy, reservation changes, charge posting and availability.
      • Read and reason about APIs, data models and system behaviour across PMS, payment and key-card integrations; translate between business intent and technical reality.

      Customer Engagement & Pilot Deployments

      • Work directly with customers to understand their requirements, operating context and priorities.
      • Run and support pilot deployments of new features with customers; capture real-world feedback and feed it back into the product.

      Quality & Validation

      • Help test features before release, using your understanding of the underlying business requirements to design sharper test cases and catch issues that purely technical testing would miss.
      • Validate that delivered features are usable and true to the documented customer requirement.

      Documentation & Enablement

      • Create and maintain rigorous, current product and integration documentation.
      • Prepare internal materials and brief the support, deployment and sales teams on delivered functionality.

      Collaboration

      • Work in lockstep with the Chief Product Officer as direct manager.
      • Collaborate closely with the development team, a second Product Owner, and the support, deployment and customer-success teams.
      • Engage external partners and integration vendors to ensure interoperability.

      JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates must have direct, hands-on experience with hospitality technology in one of the following forms:

      • Worked on the corporate or IT side of a larger hotel company or hotel group (e.g. central IT, digital, distribution, revenue, or guest-technology functions) — not solely front-of-house operations; or
      • Held a relevant role at a Property Management System (PMS) or hospitality-software vendor (product, implementation, integrations, solution consulting, or technical account management).

This is a hard requirement. Applications without demonstrable hospitality-technology experience will not be considered.

      Required

      • Hospitality-technology experience as defined in the mandatory requirement above — this is the primary hiring criterion.
      • 3–5 years in a role built on understanding the hotel business and translating business needs into requirements — e.g. business analysis, product, systems analysis, hospitality IT / operations, or a PMS / vendor role. Prior specification-writing experience is not required; deep understanding of the business is what matters.
      • Aptitude and appetite for technical detail — comfortable getting into APIs, integrations and data, or a clear willingness to grow there. We weight hospitality-business understanding above technical polish: technical gaps are far easier for us to close than hotel-business knowledge is to teach.
      • Fluency in English — our primary working language (written and spoken).
      • Comfortable in an agile, iterative development environment.

      Strongly Preferred

      • Existing technical depth — reasoning about APIs, data models and system behaviour.
      • Direct experience with PMS, payment or key-card integrations (e.g. Oracle Opera / OHIP).
      • Experience translating business needs into written requirements or specifications.
      • Experience with product / backlog tooling (Azure DevOps, Jira, Aha!, Confluence).

      A Bonus

      • French language ability — a bonus, not a requirement.
      • Experience with prototyping / design tools (e.g. Figma).
      • Interest in AI-assisted delivery and emerging product tooling.
